Downspout Cleaning Instruction:
Cut a short piece of flex tubing and connect one end to the rotatable elbow. Insert the other end into the downspout (such as through a leaf filter) and blow the debris out from the top—the downspout outlet. It's never been so easy.

Gutter Cleaning Instruction:

Before You Start – A Word About Mastery

Like any tool or instrument, getting the best results from the ArloCatcher Gutter Cleaning Kit takes a bit of understanding and practice. This innovative kit gives you the ability to clean high gutters safely from the ground, but it does require you to control a long extension pole effectively. With a few key techniques and a couple of practice runs, you’ll quickly build confidence and unlock the full potential of the system.

Three Key Principles Before You Begin

1) Keep the Flex Tubing Straight and Untwisted
Maintaining alignment between the flex tubing and the extension pole—and avoiding twists—is essential for delivering strong airflow and consistent performance. Mastering this key point will help you naturally understand most of the operating details.

2) Understand the Impact of Terrain and Gutters’ Pole Access:

Every house is different. The terrain and surroundings near the gutters will affect your standing position, pole direction, and the accessibility of the gutter. Before choosing your standing spot or setting the pole length, keep in mind:

  • The more tilted your pole is, the greater the torque (rotational force) your arms will need to handle.
  • The gutter cleaning nozzle must be angled downward to aim directly into the gutter. The closer the nozzle tip gets to the gutter bottom, the better it performs. For blowing out muddy water, ideally, the gutter cleaning nozzle tip should touch the gutter floor or the water level to maximize debris removal.

3) Stand Closer to the Siding and Tilt the Extension Pole Along the Gutter Direction

Facing the gutter directly and tilting the pole straight toward it is not always the most effective position for gutter cleaning—especially for high, two-story gutters. This is because the angle of the gutter cleaning nozzle is fixed at 45 degrees. To point the nozzle straight down into the gutter, the extension pole must also form an angle of approximately 45 degrees with the ground.

When you stand directly in front of the gutter, you are positioned far away from the siding—roughly equal to the gutter’s height. In this scenario, the pole must reach 1.414 times the gutter height. For example, for a second-story gutter 18 feet high, the pole would need to reach about 24.5 feet to maintain the proper angle.

Additionally, if the pole isn’t maintained at the right angle in this front-facing position, the nozzle may blow air toward the roof instead of into the gutter, reducing airflow efficiency and cleaning performance.

Instead, it is recommended to stand closer to the siding, facing along the direction of the gutter and siding, and allowing the pole to tilt in the same direction. In this position, a precise 45-degree pole angle is not required. The pole can be positioned at a much larger angle (i.e., less tilted), and even if the nozzle isn’t pointed perfectly downward, the airflow will still follow the gutter path effectively.

This side-facing stance not only improves cleaning efficiency but also reduces the torque on your arms, making the operation easier, safer, and more ergonomic.

* Every tool has its own limits. Don’t expect one tool can solve all problems. If a 2nd or 3rd story gutter has setback a lot which doesn’t give you a position or angle for pole access, then most likely this gutter cannot be cleaned with a pole tool.

Step 1. Familiarize Yourself with the Components/Parts of the Kit

The blower nozzle is designed to be attached to the leaf blower directly. Before attaching the blower nozzle, you will need to remove the original long air tubing from your leaf blower.

Step 2. Install/Uninstall the Blower Nozzle (including the installation/removal of the soft tip). A video instruction is provided below.

NOTE:  Before turning on your leaf blower, ensure that both the leaf blower nozzle and the rotatable elbow (or soft tip) are securely locked in place. The locking mechanism helps prevent the rotatable elbow or soft tip from accidentally detaching due to high-pressure airflow.

Step 3. Define correct lengths for different gutter heights

    1. Attach the gutter cleaning nozzle to your extension pole.

    2. Adjust the length of the extension pole to find your comfortable pole length for operation that positions the gutter cleaning nozzle approximately 5-10 inches above the target gutter.  (This 5-10 inches length is just a buffer for operation and installation. When doing gutter cleaning, the gutter cleaning nozzle must be angled downward to aim directly into the gutter. The closer the nozzle tip gets to the gutter bottom, the better it performs. For blowing out muddy water, ideally, the gutter cleaning nozzle tip should touch the gutter floor or the water level to maximize debris removal.)

     3. Place the extension pole down and cut the flexible tubing to match the length of the pole, adding an extra 3 inches to allow for the connection with the gutter cleaning nozzle.

    Step 4. Flex tubing alignment

    1. Align the flat flex tubing along one side of the extension pole, ensuring it is positioned on the same side as the tightened gutter cleaning nozzle.

     2. If possible, use the wider reusable zip ties (not the thinner zip ties meant for sealing the flex tubing) to attach the flex tubing to the extension pole every 5-6 feet.
These wider zip ties are intended for alignment, so do not over-tighten them, as this may obstruct airflow. This setup ensures that during cleaning, the flex tubing remains straight, aligned with, and beneath the extension pole, with no folds or twists.

     Step 5. Attach Flex Tubing

    1. Peel off the red protective film of the adhesive nano seal, insert the air outlet of the rotatable elbow into flex tubing, approximately 2 inches.

    2. Gently press around to make the flex tubing adhere to the adhesive nano seal.
    3. Gently tighten the thinner reusable zip tie (flex tubing zip ties) around, ensuring the zip tie loops OVER the nano seal. The flex tubing has a very smooth surface, making it prone to slipping off under high-pressure airflow or causing air leaks that reduce pressure. The nano seal ensures an airtight and secure connection of the flex tubing, so the zip tie must be positioned over the nano seal, aligned with the grooves on both sides of the nano seal.
    4. Connect the other end of the flex tubing to the gutter cleaning nozzle. Ensuring the zip tie loops over the nano seal.

Step 6. Connect Rotatable Elbow to the Leaf Blower Nozzle

Hold the pole and rotate the elbow to make the air outlet align with the pole direction. Now you are ready to GO !

Again, using the thinner reusable zip ties to tight above the nano seal; keeping the flex tubing aligned with the extension pole and free from twists is essential for delivering powerful performance !

Before turning on your leaf blower, ensure that both the leaf blower nozzle and the rotatable elbow (or soft tip) are securely locked in place !

Stand Closer to the Siding and Tilt the Extension Pole Along the Gutter Direction.

    Step 7. Cleaning and Maintenance

    • Release zip ties and disconnect flex tubing with the rotatable elbow and gutter cleaning nozzle;

    • Rinse with Fresh Water: The ArloCatcher Gutter Cleaning Kit is rust-free, primarily made of stainless steel, ABS, and TPU. It is recommended to rinse the components with fresh water after use.

    • Adhesive Nano Seal: The Adhesive Nano Seal is reusable. This plays a crucial role in attaching the flex tubing and ensuring proper air sealing. Avoid overtightening the zip ties, as this may damage the seal. Rinse with water if it becomes dirty.

    • Zip Ties: The kit includes two types of reusable zip ties. The thinner zip ties are specifically designed for flex tubing connections. Using the thicker zip ties for this purpose may cause difficulty when releasing them.

    • Flex Tubing: The flex tubing is durable. In case it gets torn by something like bushes, it can be easily repaired with duct tape.

    • Storage: ABS materials are not UV-resistant. Store the kit indoors after cleaning to prolong its lifespan.
